The rule that changed in 2026
Since 19 January 2026, Gambling Commission rules cap wagering on bonuses at 10 times and stop operators from mixing products in one offer, such as a sports bet that unlocks casino play. An offer with 35x wagering may still be advertised on foreign sites; it is not allowed for customers in Great Britain.
Significant terms to look for
- Eligibility. New customers only, one per household, certain payment methods.
- Minimum deposit or qualifying bet. The amount you must put in first.
- Wagering. How many times bonus money must be played through before it can be withdrawn. 10x on a £20 bonus means £200 of play.
- Minimum odds. Sports offers often require a qualifying bet at odds of 1/2 (1.5) or longer.
- Expiry. How long you have to use the bonus or the free bets.
- Maximum stake. The largest bet allowed while a bonus is active.
- Excluded payment methods. Some offers do not apply to e-wallet deposits.
- Stake not returned. With a free bet, a winning bet pays the winnings but not the free bet stake itself.
How we show terms
On every card in this atlas the welcome offer is set out in plain words with all of its significant conditions, next to the button, never in a footnote, with the date we last checked it. The key terms (wagering, deposit, odds, expiry) are picked out above the text. Always read the full terms on the operator's site.
When to walk away
If the terms are hard to find, contradict the headline or change between the advert and the sign-up page, treat that as information about the operator. No offer is worth playing for longer or for more than you had planned.
